Who We Are

About DAR Foundation

The DAR Foundation is a non-profit organization in the US, dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of abused, abandoned, mistreated, and neglected homeless animals.

As the U.S.-based sister organization of our shelter Fundación DAR in Tequisquiapan, Mexico, our role is to raise awareness about the plight of neglected animals in Mexico and to connect rescued dogs with loving, permanent homes in the United States.

Our Core Mission

Save and help animals in need

Our shelter is fighting on a daily basis to save the life of abandoned and mistreated animals in and around Tequisquiapan. We rescue them off the streets, nurse them back to health, and try to find them permanent, loving homes.

Educate and raise awareness

Education and awareness are key to saving lives. Our shelter visits schools and holds regular programs about the challenges facing neglected dogs in hope of preventing neglect before it starts.

Provide medical assistance

Our newly built hospital in our shelter takes care not only of the animals in the shelter, but provides assistance to the other animals in need in the area, like treatments, vaccination, spaying/neutering.

Fight for animal rights in Mexico

Legitimation of animal rights is one of the main sources of the problem in Mexico. Therefore, it is crucial to have a legitimate background to fight for the mistreatment of animals. We fight to implement legislation to protect animal rights.

Help Us Save More Lives

We rely exclusively on donations and on our family of helpers and volunteers.

Funded through Donations

All our work is 100% funded by donations. Please take a look at our Donation site and consider helping us. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference in the life of an animal.

Improving the Lives of Animals Every Day

Through hands-on rescue, love and attention, training, and rehabilitative medical care, we are able to place hundreds of dogs in new homes each year.

Advocacy & Education

The situation of abandoned animals in Mexico is among the worst in the Americas. Education and awareness are important goals. We also fight to implement legislation to protect animal rights.
