You Can Make a Difference

Due to Mexico's economic situation, Fundación DAR in Tequisquiapan receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned dogs. Due to Mexico's economic challenges, most support comes from compassionate donors abroad who recognize that animal welfare knows no borders.

That's why DAR Foundation exists. As a registered US nonprofit 501(c)(3), we connect caring donors with Fundación DAR's critical rescue work.

100% of your donation to DAR Foundation goes directly to the shelter. No middleman fees. No administrative charges. Just transparent, direct support for the animals. Plus, your contribution is fully tax-deductible.

It doesn't just rescue a dog from the streets, it provides the needed emergency medical care, surgeries, vaccinations, and rehabilitation. It funds our spay/neuter programs that work to stop the crisis at its source. Without consistent donor support, none of this would be possible.

The Impact of Your Donation

saves abandoned dogs

Saves mistreated and abandoned dogs

Your donation saves lives. Mexico ranks first in Latin America with the largest numbers of stray dogs. Around 70% of the dogs in Mexico live on the street. Not only the abandonment, but mistreatment is a huge problem as well. We fight to save as many lives as we can.

medical treatment

Funds medical care and sterilization

All the dogs in the shelter Fundación DAR are fully vaccinated and sterilized and receive necessary medical care. But that is not all.
The shelter organizes regular spaying/neutering and vaccination events to help to stop the rising problem of the strays in the area.

Education and awareness are key to saving lives. The shelter Fundación DAR runs regular programs about the challenges facing neglected dogs in hope of preventing neglect before it starts. We also provide regular dog training sessions.

Flies our dogs to their new homes

Due to the situation in Mexico, most of the dogs in the shelter Fundación DAR find their forever homes in the US or in Canada.
With your donation, you can make it possible to fly our adopted dogs to their permanent, loving homes.

Help Us Help Animals

We rely completely on donations to finance and operate our work. Please consider donating, no matter the size. Every little bit helps us rescue dogs and place them in loving, permanent homes.

Many people assume that caring for dogs in Mexico is inexpensive. Unfortunately, this is no longer the reality. Food, veterinary care, and basic supplies have increased significantly.

While $25 is a meaningful contribution, it no longer covers the full monthly cost of feeding and caring for one dog. This is why donations of all sizes are combined—so every dog receives proper food, medical care, and the chance for a better life.

Donation amounts shown are examples. Every contribution—big or small—helps us save lives. We are so thankful for the help of our supporters.

Be a Monthly Donor or Virtual Adopter

Monthly donations are the backbone of our rescue work.

Monthly donors are the heartbeat of our rescue. Your commitment keeps dogs alive—literally. Every month you give is another month a dog eats, heals, and hopes for the home they deserve. Without you, there is no rescue. With you, miracles happen.

Virtual adopters can support a special dog.

Want to change one dog's life completely? Add their name in the notes when you donate, and your monthly support will go directly to them. We'll send you a personalized certificate, and that dog will have you as their champion, standing between them and the streets.

More ways you can help

You do not need to be in Mexico to be able to help. We need support with our daily operations, which can be done remotely. So you can be anywhere in the world and still can make a big impact by helping us.

More ways you can help

You do not need to be in Mexico to be able to help. We need support with our daily operations, which can be done remotely. So you can be anywhere in the world and still can make a big impact by helping us.

Help at the shelter

Be there for them when they need it most.

Are you living in or visiting Mexico? Your hands-on help at our shelter in Tequisquiapan makes a real difference every single day. Volunteers support daily care such as feeding the dogs, cleaning kennels, walking and playing with them, and helping with basic training.
Most importantly, you give them something every rescued dog needs: love, patience, and human connection.

Adopt or foster

Change a life forever—starting today.

By adopting or fostering a rescued dog, you give them a second chance at life and unconditional love. Every dog that finds a home opens space for another one to be rescued.

All dogs are fully vaccinated, sterilized, and carefully checked by a veterinarian before joining their new families. If adoption isn’t possible right now, fostering is a beautiful way to help.

Be a flight angel

Turn your flight into a lifesaving journey.

Traveling from Mexico to the US or Canada? You can help a rescued dog reach safety as a flight angel—at no cost to you.
Our team meets you at the airport in Mexico City with the dog and handles all documentation and customs paperwork.
Upon arrival, our trusted rescue partners take over and guide the dog to their next step toward a forever home.

Volunteer remotely

Support our work from anywhere in the world.

You don’t have to be on-site to make a difference. DAR Foundation US welcomes remote volunteers who want to support our mission with their skills. Whether it’s fundraising, marketing, social media, content creation, video editing, or other talents—your time helps save lives.
Together, we can achieve more for dogs who have no voice.
