About Lola🐾
Lola was found as a tiny puppy — three months old, with a fractured leg, most likely hit by a car. She was brought in and given every chance. But the injury was too severe. The leg couldn't be saved. She was three months old when they amputated it.
What happened next is the part of Lola's story worth telling. Because Lola didn't get the memo that she was supposed to slow down. She runs. She plays. She bounces around the shelter with the kind of energy that makes people stop and stare — not out of pity, but out of pure joy at watching her go. Three legs, zero complaints. She has never needed a prosthetic. She has never needed anyone to feel sorry for her.
Lola is playful, loving, and genuinely happy — the kind of happy that isn't in spite of everything she's been through, but somehow completely untouched by it. She loves people. She gets along beautifully with other dogs. She grew up in the shelter after the worst possible start, and she chose joy anyway.
She is, in every sense, a whole dog. And yet the odds are stacked against her in almost every way. Lola is black — and black dogs are consistently the last to be adopted, passed over in shelters and scrolled past online for reasons people can't quite explain. It has a name: black dog syndrome. And it is real. Then there are the three legs, which make some people hesitate before they've even met her. Lola doesn't know about any of that. She is too busy running.
She is not asking for special treatment. She is not fragile. She just needs someone who sees past the things that make her easy to overlook — and sees her for exactly what she is: one of the most joyful, resilient dogs in the shelter.
Lola is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to travel to the USA or Canada for adoption.
If you can't adopt, virtual adoption lets you support her monthly while she waits for her person.
She lost a leg and never lost her spirit. She's black, three-legged, and absolutely wonderful. The only thing Lola is still missing is a home.
